This Academy Award-nominated performer Diane Ladd, a Hollywood veteran passed away 89 years old.
The star, whose roles spanned Chinatown, left this world in her residence in California’s Ojai. Her passing was revealed in a statement shared by her child, Academy Award-winning star Laura Dern, her daughter.
Her daughter, who starred with her mother in several movies including Rambling Rose, referred to her as “my wonderful hero and my profound gift as a mother”, writing that she was at her bedside as she died.
“She was the most wonderful grandmother, mother, daughter, star, artist along with caring individual that seemed almost dreamlike,” she expressed. “We were fortunate to know her. She is flying with her angels now.”
The start of her career saw supporting roles in TV shows like Gunsmoke whereas the 1970s had her appearing with the legendary Jack Nicholson in the film Chinatown.
During that year, 1974, she shared the screen alongside Ellen Burstyn in Scorsese’s praised film the movie Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore. Her role brought Ladd her first Oscar nomination as best supporting actress.
Throughout the 1980s, she was seen in the thriller the movie Black Widow as well as funny follow-up National Lampoon’s holiday comedy and appeared on Alice, a television series inspired by the film Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore.
