Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Secure and Retains Liverpool's Backing After PSV Humiliation

The Liverpool head coach conceded that it was understandable for concerns to be raised about his future after another heavy loss against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in twelve matches, representing the club's worst run after being relegated in 1953-54.

They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I am OK, I've received a lot of backing from above,” Slot remarked.

“It would be great to turn it around and earn three points obviously but when you're coaching a team and not doing well then it's expected that people question you.”

He continued, “I accept my position. It is not the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to provide details on his dialogues with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“We talk a lot. They assist for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don’t call me every single minute of the day to say they trust me.”

He further stated, “During our regular conversations we have I feel the trust. However I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”

Recurring Issues and Squad Reaction

The manager lamented known shortcomings from his squad in their European defeat, namely poor finishing and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Curtis Jones was more forthright in his evaluation of the club’s predicament.

“I don’t have the answers. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” Jones said.

“It is unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond being angry inside. I’m at the point now where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I play for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team going through a phase of this nature with results like these.”

Jones finished, “But we still have the emblem on our chest. And until it is taken away, we'll continue to battle.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to its rightful place, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, we’re in the shit and we have to turn it around.”
