'Enduring a Horrific Ordeal': Relatives of Missing Teens Desperately Seek Answers After Ski Resort Blaze

The families of teenagers missing after a deadly blaze at a venue in a Switzerland's ski resort are enduring an agonising wait for confirmed information and appealing for clues about their loved ones publicly.

The inferno ripped through the a popular bar in the alpine resort, located in the Swiss Alps of the Valais region, in the small hours of the first day of the year. Circulated images show the ceiling catching alight as beverages with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Emergency services have indicated that it could take considerable time to identify the those who perished of the tragedy, which resulted in the death of four dozen individuals and injured another scores more. Authorities said on Friday that 113 of the injured have been accounted for, with the process ongoing to name the final individuals.

In the waiting period, loved ones have been posting on social media to plead for any news about their friends who were in attendance that evening.

Heartbreaking Pleas for the Missing

The whereabouts of Swiss national Arthur Brodard, a teenager, are currently unknown, according to an public plea from his family.

The resident of Lutry near Lausanne, informed a publication that she had gone back to the city to check whether he was in the medical facility, while his father did the same in Bern, but did not locate him.

"This is a living nightmare, an ordeal. The options are finding my son in the hospital mortuary, or I find him in a serious state. Words cannot describe it," she told the paper.

She continued that some of his friends had been discovered with burns covering nearly half their bodies. "It's indescribable; they endured hell."

The Italy's government has confirmed that a number of of its nationals remain missing.

Included in that group is Emanuele Galeppini, a teenage promising athlete, who hailed from Italy but now residing in Dubai.
