Individual That Grabbed Ariana Grande at Film Launch Barred from Singapore

An individual of Australian nationality who jumped over a barricade and grabbed actress Ariana Grande has been expelled and banned from Singapore.

The individual, aged 26, was handed a penalty to more than a week in jail for disrupting public order and has now been "prohibited from returning to Singapore," the country's border control informed news outlets.

Wen pushed past photographers and approached aggressively the performer and artist, who was attending the Asian premier for the musical adaptation on 13 November. Fellow actress Cynthia Erivo pulled him back from Grande.

He has a background of interrupting performances and celebrity events, including leaping onto the platform at the pop star's Australian show in June this year.

The incident sparked outrage in Singapore, with many claiming he of re-traumatising Grande.

The pop star has discussed suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after a suicide bomb attack at her show in the English city in May 2017 resulted in the deaths of 22 individuals and hurt numerous attendees.

Throughout the court proceedings, the judge was informed he had made efforts to breach on the red carpet event on two occasions, according to local news sources.

He then made a follow-up try to breach security. Event security stopped him and restrained him.

Wen later posted videos expressing gratitude to the star for permitting his access and said he was "released."

Law enforcement took him into custody the next day and accused him with causing a disturbance, to which he confessed.

The District Judge Christopher Goh was quoted by media reports as stating that he was looking for publicity, commenting that he was wrong to believe he would not experience repercussions.

The actress has not addressed the situation.

Erivo discussed the incident to NBC, remarking that she "simply desired to ensure my colleague was secure."

"I'm sure he didn't intend us injury, but you cannot be certain with those things, and I wanted to make sure that she was OK. That was my first instinct," she said.
