Jennifer Lawrence Says Discussing Donald Trump Would ‘Intensify Divisions’ Dividing the Nation Apart

Jennifer Lawrence has declared that she finds it inappropriate suitable to comment publicly countering the Trump presidency, fearing it could worsen unhelpful debate and further divisions across the United States.

‘I’m Unsure If It’s Wise’, Notes Jennifer Lawrence

During a discussion, she shared, “During the first Trump administration, I felt like I was acting frantically in a panicked state. But as we’ve learned, election after election, celebrities have no real impact whatsoever on who people vote for.”

Lawrence added, “Why continue? I’m just voicing my thoughts on an issue that’s going to worsen tensions that’s ripping the country apart.”

Political Evolution

The actress has previously been open about backing right and leftwing candidates in past elections. Brought up by Republican parents in Kentucky, she voted for John McCain in the 2008 election then moving to the left-leaning politics and stating she recognized during Obama’s administration that backing conservatives was undermining her own rights as a female citizen.

Earlier Remarks

Several years ago, she commented that a Trump victory would be “a disaster” and publicly supported the Democratic candidate in the 2020 presidential race. In the latest campaign, she lent her support to Kamala Harris, “since I believe she’s an amazing candidate and I trust that she will do whatever she can to protect abortion access.”

Industry Position

The star was aligned with most of Hollywood in her rejection of the former president as a candidate for re-election, but the lack of leverage celebrities have over the public choices was underscored by his election win.

“Another four years feels different,” noted the actress regarding his leadership. “As he made his plans clear. We knew what he did for four years. He was explicit. And that’s the option selected.”

Latest Film

The actor is discussing Die, My Love, Lynne Ramsay’s drama in which she stars as a young mom who struggles with her emotional state in the countryside. Speaking at a press conference for the movie in Venice, the star commented on the situation in the Middle East: “It’s frightening. It’s devastating. What’s taking place is no less than a humanitarian crisis and it’s terrible.”

Broader Concerns

She continued by saying that she was disappointed by “the disrespect in the conversations of American politics at present and how that is going to be normalised to the younger generation right now. It’s going to be normal to them that politicians lie.”

She attempted to refocus outrage about the conflict to decision-makers rather than actors and artists. “Keep attention on those accountable,” she advised, in what many took to be a reference to the then-recent pledge signed by thousands of arts community members to refuse engagement with certain cultural organizations.

Personal Connections

The actor, who earned critical acclaim at a young age for her part in the acclaimed film, is generating Oscar buzz for her performance in the new film. While the director has denied the plot being seen as one of post-birth struggles and psychological distress, Lawrence said that she identified with parts of her role’s experience after the birth of her youngest child, not long after production wrapped.

“I felt anxiety for my son,” she commented, “envisioning every negative outcome, and then questioning everything that I was attempting. I was seeing a therapist, but I started taking a treatment called the prescription and I continued it for 14 days and it was effective.”

Professional Experiences

The actor also spoke regarding the liberating necessity of completing nude scenes in the project while she was in pregnancy and limited physically.

“There’s a freedom,” she remarked, about having to cast off vanity. “I mean, I sometimes think where I’m like, What separates me between my work and that profession? But it doesn’t keep me up at night.”
