Reigning Aryna Sabalenka Secures Consecutive WTA Player of the Year Accolades.

World number one Aryna Sabalenka has been voted the Women's Tennis Association player of the year for a second consecutive year.

The 27-year-old captured four titles – the highest tally on the circuit – which included successfully defending the US Open this past September versus Amanda Anisimova to claim her fourth Grand Slam singles championship.

A Year of Consistency

Across the season, Sabalenka competed in a tour-best nine finals, with losses coming to Madison Keys in the Australian Open final at the start of the year and Coco Gauff in June's French Open final.

The star player also won the Brisbane International in January, the Miami Open in March, and the Madrid Open as the clay season progressed. She spent the whole season as the top-ranked player, concluding 2025 atop the rankings for a second successive year.

In July, she became the first athlete to top 12,000 WTA ranking points after Serena Williams did so nearly a decade ago.

Record-Breaking Statistics

Sabalenka concluded the season with a sixty-three to twelve match record, and picked up a record £11m in earnings.

She garnered nearly 80% of the votes submitted by international tennis media.

Later this month, she is poised to compete against 2022 Wimbledon runner-up Nick Kyrgios in a Battle of the Sexes-style exhibition match with the aim of "raise women's tennis to a greater prominence".

Additional WTA Award Recipients

• Comeback Player of the Year: Switzerland's Belinda Bencic, 28, was voted after taking a 13-month break following the arrival of her first child and making her comeback to the sport at the start of this year.
• Newcomer of the Year: Canadian 19-year-old Victoria Mboko received the award after beginning the season positioned outside the world's top 300 and soaring to the eighteenth spot.
• Doubles Team of the Year: Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend were selected after winning their second Grand Slam title as a pair.
• Biggest Leap of the Year: Amanda Anisimova received the accolade after advancing to five finals.

Last week, Carlos Alcaraz took home three honours in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) Awards, which included the season-ending top rank award, while Jannik Sinner was voted the fan favorite for a third time.
