A high-ranking Russian army officer has been declared dead following an detonation in Moscow, according to reports from authorities.

The incident occurred on Monday morning when an IED planted beneath a vehicle exploded, resulting in the death of Lieutenant General Fanil Sarvarov.

Sarvarov served as the head of the armed forces' department for training operations.

Authorities mentioned that one theory under investigation points to the alleged involvement of Ukrainian intelligence services. To date, Ukraine has remained silent.
