The incident caused the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two men have been charged in connection with a luggage theft where a substance thought to be capsaicin spray caused injuries at the UK's busiest airport.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, are accused of two counts of robbery and two counts of deploying a toxic agent, as confirmed by court officials.

The charges follow an investigation into an assault at the parking structure at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Prior to the attack, two female travelers had their suitcases taken after exiting a car park lift, police said.

A toddler was one of the people hurt in the event. Five people went to hospital for treatment and were later discharged.

This event – described by police as was a standalone event and deemed non-terroristic – led to disruptions to rail services and the temporary blocking of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park for a limited duration.
